This is my mother’s recipe. I have memories of coming home from school and smelling these brownies through the window at all times of the year.
The chocolate combined with nuts is delicious yet the recipe is simple enough to make on a busy day.
2 baking squares of chocolate *
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup flour
1/3 cup chopped nuts
- 1 square of baking chocolate equals 1 tbsp of butter and 3 tbsp of cocoa.
Melt chocolate over low heat.
Fold in butter, sugar, vanilla and 2 beaten eggs.
Fold in flour and chopped nuts.
Place in an oval or square 8x 8 pan and bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick stuck into the batter comes out clean.
