Applesauce Cake

This is my grandmother’s recipe. She used to use chunky home-made applesauce to bake the recipe with.  I’ve made my own applesauce and used store bought sauce in this cake.  It’s delicious either way.

3/4 cup sugar

Omit the nuts if desired.

1/2 cup melted butter

1 egg

1 cup applesauce

1 1/4 cup flour

1/2 tsp salt

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp allspice

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 cup raisins

1/4 cup chopped mixed nuts

Mix sugar, butter, egg and applesauce together.  Mix dry ingredients together.  Incorporate dry ingredients into wet.  Bake in a greased 8×8 pan at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 20 minutes
