Traditional Corn Bread

I don’t make cornbread often but when I do I use this recipe.  The recipe is packed with flavor and is a crowd pleaser.   

INGREDIENTS

1 cup corn meal

1 cup flour

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 tsp salt

4 tsp baking powder

1 egg

1 cup milk

1/4 cup melted butter

DIRECTIONS

Mix egg, milk and melted butter together.

Mix corn meal, flour, sugar, flour, salt and baking powder together.

Fold wet ingredients into dry and mix until just incorporated.

Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the bread comes out clean.  For muffins this is about 13-15 minutes.
