This applesauce is good with pork or on its own. Its adds a unique flavor to baking when substituted for eggs or oil. Replace 1 egg with 1/4 cup of applesauce or replace 1/4 of the oil in a recipe with applesauce.
8 cups chopped mixed apples
4 cups fresh cranberries
4 cups apple juice or apple cider
1 cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp allspice
Stir ingredients in a large pot over high heat just until mixture begins to boil. Turn down and simmer until thickened and apples begin to breakdown. Stir pot occasionally to prevent bottom from burning.
