When strawberries get ripe in June I like to make this shortcake recipe. It’s good with fruit and frozen yogourt or whipped cream. The cake is also great in a trifle recipe.
4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
2 cups sour milk
Mix flour, baking powder, soda and salt in a bowl.
Combine sugar and shortening in another bowl.
Mix wet ingredients into flour mixture . Add sour milk and blend until a thick batter is formed. Turn out into a greased cake pan.
Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.
Cool. Serve with chopped fruit and frozen yogourt.
