This simple royal icing recipe is perfect for icing sugar cookies, ginger cookies or gingerbread houses. Colour with your favourite shades of red and green for a festive alternative.
4 cups icing sugar
2 tbsp meringue powder
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 cup water
Beat with a mixer on low until just mixed.
Turn up mixer to high.
Beat for 5-6 minutes or until mixture is very stiff.
Keep mixture covered when not in use to stop it from drying.
